The Slaithwaite Moonraking Festival is back with a moveable feast of illuminated delights – the theme for 2017 is: Moon-mentum!
This popular local festival, held biannually, celebrates the beautiful Pennine Community of Slaithwaite. A week of lantern making, music, story telling, arts and crafts culminates in a unique finale event re enacting the legend of moonraking from the eighteenth century, and then its all back to the Leisure Centre for a Ceilidh.
The festival will run from Sunday 19th February 2017 to the evening of Saturday 25th February 2017 for the Finale and is packed with our usual feast of activity.
Lantern making workshops take place all week starting on Sunday 19th February at 9.30am when everyone will have the opportunity to make a lantern to carry or wheel along in the procession.
